No-exam life insurance
Who can get underwriting without a medical visit, how the fast-track process works, and what happens if you're not in the accelerated program.
Many carriers have fast-track underwriting: if you fall within their age and coverage limits, they'll make a decision based on your application, prescription records, driving history, and other data—no physical exam needed. A decision can come back the same day in some cases. Every quote here notes whether an exam is likely, possible, or not needed.
What it changes
No exam doesn't mean no scrutiny. The carrier will verify your answers, and they can challenge a policy in its first two years if the information turns out to be wrong. They might also request an exam or blood work later if something in their checks raises a flag—you can then decide whether to go forward.
Who tends to qualify
Usually people under about 60 seeking coverage amounts within the carrier's no-exam limit, with no significant health issues and no tobacco use in the past year (or at all). Some carriers will use recent lab work from your doctor instead of requiring a new exam.
If the carrier asks for one, a paramedical examiner typically visits your home or office in the Pittsburg area for 20 to 30 minutes—at no charge to you. For applicants in good health, the exam results often lead to a better rate, so it's not always a drawback.
